Correct Answer Its actually D!

B-Lactams inhibit the transpeptidase enzymes (aka Penicillin Binding Protein) which is located IN the inner cytoplasmic membrane of bacteria and functions by cross linking the near by amino-acids in the peptidoglycan layer (C in the figure)

I agree with D.
-D- marks the Penicillin binding proteins (PBPs) which are the enzymes that synthesize the cell wall.

The answer is D. PBP Penicillin binding proteins, E. is the bilipid layer in the cell wall, penicillins act attaching to the PBP's illustrated as D.
