Default nbme 11 discussion

A 60 yr old man develops pain, erythema, and swelling of the right great toe. Serum uric acid concentration is 3 times normal. Which of following is most common in patient with this condition?
a. Absence of aminotransferase
b. Absence of glucose-6- phosphate
c. Absence of gluthatione peroxidase
d. Absence of HGPRT
e. no specific enzyme and renal defect


Protection against paralytic poliomyelitis can be achieved either by oral administration of live attenuated poliovirus vaccine or by parenteral administration of poliovirus vaccine. The common features of these two vaccines , which accounts for their efficacy, is their ability to induce which of following poliovirus specific immune responses?

a. activated CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes effectors in circulation
b. activated CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes effectors in gut
c. CD8+ memory T lymphocytes
d. neutralising antibodies in the circulation
e. neutralising secretory IgA antibodies in the gut


During an experiment, US11 gene product of CMV is expressed constitutively after stable transfection in experimental tumour cell line. It is found that this gene product causes translocation of nascent class1 MHCmolecules from ER to cytosol. Which of the following is most likely to occur regarding the class 1 MHC molecules?

a. association with invariant chain
b. binding of peptides from endocytic pathway
c. degradation by proteasomes
d. formation of class 1 MHC/ class 2 MHC hybrid molecule
e. interaction with T lymphocyte receptor.

Thanx a lot for help..
But i think for last ques answer is C.. it just striked me yesterday. Its mutated MHC 1 molecule going from ER to cytosol and not to plasma membrane. So it well get degraded by barrel proteasomes..

i know killed vaccines do not induce the cellular immunity, thats why im confused now
