Listening Should I take an NBME Now?

Hi Guys.

Its been a week i have finished UWORLD. My percentage was 64% first time random timed. Revised all the wrong Qs and marked. Since then I have been trying to study and put up long hours but have not been able to..possibly due to fatigue or saturation don't know
I initially planned to study for 2 weeks and then take an NBME to assess myself. But seems like I might be falling short of that target. My triad ends in AUGUST and my exam date is 25th august.

I wanted to ask your opinion whether I should take an NBME now to see where I stand in the scheme of thing? I have not taken any assessment exams yet. I fear that if i delay taking the NBME to the end of this month and take it after this read and it shows up a poor score i might get really depressed and might have to extend the triad (which i really don't want to do).

My thinking is that if i have to swallow a bitter pill it better be now and it might give me a kick in the back side to ward off all laziness and get fully pumped up. What do you guys say? Plus i want to give 3 NBMES with expanded feedback, so which ones should i give and what should be the order and timing of them.

Thanx.

Yes. It's a good idea to do an NBME at this point of your prep.

You can do another two or three NBMEs later, like one form every week.

Which NBME Form?
See this poll
Best NBME Form for USMLE Step 1

Pick the best four forms in that poll and do them, in any sequence.

I will do forms 12 and 7 for sure. I am confused whether i should do form 6 or 11?
I heard form 12 and 7 are very reliable and predictive of your score so would do them at end. At this point 6 or 11 as i will do one of them. Plus should i do it right now or after revising a few things i think i have forgotten in a couple of days?

If I were you, I'd pick Form 11, because it's new and more reflective of the current standard.

I think you should do it right now, because as you said. It boosts your alertness and will wake you up if you are slowing down currently.

I think you are right. Its better to take a newer form as it represents most closest to the current pattern. I will be taking forms 7 and 12 for sure later on and then if needed can also take form 6 but right now to make myself alert of the reality form 11 is a good idea. I was just skeptical of whole thing because in that poll u referred to form 11 didnt get many votes compared to 6.
Thanx mate.
