Default My not so advice about

I am done with my step 1 and I think if I am able to give some useful stuff to you guys, I would consider myself lucky. I have learned so many things from this site and I want to share my thoughts with you. It is mainly going to be much criticism and I hope if that is able to bring out something positive than so be it. Lemme get started.

First of all, you donít need this site for looking for help. I mean if you need guidance, you have your friends and they will tell you much better than people on this forum on what to study, how to study, etc. When I came looking for this site I wanted to gather new information I thought my friends didn't have. I was so wrong. They know all the things and all the cool stuffs too. So make your friends number one priority for seeking help.

This site does have some usefulness too. What this site is good for is seeking new trends and some site links and most important if you are getting bored than itís much better to socialize on this site than to be on facebook(well, only during exam time). I donít think this site is useful for asking for help. Because I remember asking for help once and yes, people on this site are actually very nice. They will surely give some nice advice; it will be all like read Kaplan 3 times or first aid 4 times. Sure they wish you well, but no one knows your ground reality better than you and It may cause more damage than the help you were asking. So trust yourself.

Besides wonít it be foolish to follow advice from people you barely know? When we want opinion or advice, we usually seek it from persons whom we admire or trust, and I am afraid to say this that most people here are a waste of time. Lemme explain it to you. I mean when I asked for help, there were some advice and I thought they were some good one too but once I saw their problems and especially their scores, my belief in them was shattered. How could I just take advice from someone who is having problems of his own and even scoring less than me on Uworld? I am not on this site for sharing my problems about life, I am here to give an exam and I want to learn good new things and score well. So wouldn't it be nice to learn from someone who is more competent than me and who is going to help me.

I donít know if I am making myself a fool here but who cares. My advice to you all is read threads of the people who have scored well and especially not from someone who is forum master or guru on this site. These people are very dangerous because you think they can be trusted. But when one spends a lot of time becoming a forum champion, he couldnít study a lot and you end up getting some bad advice. So, if you really want some information, first search whoís is good and read their experience. It will be much better this way.

Hoping this was useful.

I don't understand the point of this post... If you don't like this site then why even post here!

I think everything on this site is helpful. And maybe you should learn to be more humble... You can learn something even from the security guard at the door of the hospital. Just because you score better than someone doesn't mean you can't learn from them. It sounds to me like you need to learn a lot about life and not so much about step 1.... Shame on you!

Whoa DUDE....Sounds like you did bad on your step and you're taking it out on the forum....DISPLACEMENT defense mechanism ..well may be ?!!!

Either way, I completely agree with Dr. Laura. Everything on this website is useful. None of the posts are unprofessional, everyone is here to help each other and ur the first and only person I've heard who is complaining about the website (after getting help from here!)...ridiculous!

Its actually better to follow advice from people who are going through the same thing as you or have taken the exam in the past! (whether it be friends or the family of usmle forums ) Why do u think in research they take a randomized sample group .. coz everyone is different and contributes to the study! Same thing here, if you take advice from ppl from ur own school, everyone will give u the same advice. Here everyone takes the time out to give you advice! Its obviously what they think is best in their mind but you dont have to follow it if you dont like it...thats where you THINK FOR YOURSELF lol

Your post was a waste of my time.. but I felt compelled to reply to it coz I strongly disagree with everything you said.

Ps. Im not trying to be rude, just being realistic about your feedback
