Default Fees for extending eligibility period

Hi everyone! I have some questions regarding the extension of the eligibility period and I would really use your help. I am a little confused after reading the ecfmg info on this. So, the steps are to cancel the prometric appointment, apply for the extension, wait for a new scheduling permit and then make a new appointment?

However, I am an international medical student and when I applied for Step 1 examination a Form 183 was requested. Is it still valid or do I have do send a new one? On the website says that the Form 186 is valid for 5 years. However, they do not mention anything about Form 183 as being also valid ( I applied as a student and I am still a student).

On the other hand, which fee do I need to pay at Prometric? If I cancel now the Prometric appointment (more than 30 days before the test day) I do not have to pay anything. However, if they send me a new scheduling permit less than 30 days till the initial test day( even though it's cancelled), do I have to pay a fee for a new appointment?

Thanks in advance!

Post Fees

70 dollars cost this fee to change elegibility period for exam... you might look at ecfmg.org, and find there other fees in general , for all operations ...

Like he said, the cost of extending eligibility is $70.

If u already hav an appointment with prometric like I did, you have to first cancel with them before u can apply for this extension. If this cancellation is within 30 days to your proposed exam date, then that will cost $50.
If it's still outside the 30 day bracket, then it'll be free.
If it's within 5 days, it's way more expensive.

As for the forms, as long as u have a valid form 186 (certification of identification form) on file with ECFMG, then u won't need to submit another one but you would need to submit another form 183-E (certification statement) if you are a student officially enrolled in a medical school that does not participate in the ECFMG Medical School Web Portal (EMSWP) Status Verification program

I hope this helps.
