Default Study Plan !

Resources ..
Goljan RR for Path, Kaplan Step 1 notes for everything else !
I heard Goljan Audios twice and Kaplan Lectures twice along with readings.

My advice is start with UW asap after 1st reading. Take it as a learning tool, not as a test tool. Its a wonderful resource and deserves full devotion ! Do it twice min.
Read FA min 4-5 times before exam.

NBMEs should be solved min a month before exam.
I dragged my weak areas to exam cause i had less time. Knowing your weak areas early helps you a lot to score well.. !

NBME form 11, 12 and 7 shuld be done online. UWSA overestimates your score slightly but a good practice test !

Now looking forward to CK and hopefully lessons from step 1 prep prove to be useful..

I hope this is useful..!

Thanks

UWSA 1 - 224
UWSA 2 - 230
NBME 11 - 226
NBME 12 - 218
NBME 7 - 224

I got 5 points below expectation but i guess this is acceptable in the end !
It has ended gives one a lot of satisfaction ! A new day to begin tom !

Finishing UW 3 weeks before exam is just awesome !!! Why dont u try giving an NBME online as soon as u re done with UW ! you ll have an idea about your prep and then sufficient time to revise your weak areas ! I hope this helps..
Good luck !

Thanks doc !

It generally takes 8 to 9 months for step 1 prep but frankly it just needs 4-5 months of study continuous study period ! The shorter your prep time the better and efficient it would be !!! Dont stretch your study period long as this is not of much use !!!!

I hope this helps.. Good Luck !

Hi doc ..
Thanks a lot ! First of all i wish you a very good luck as you are in a perfect stage to plan your prep for step 1 ! Since you re fresh from pre and para clinical subjects !!! Try to use Goljan RR 3rd edition along its Audios to supplement your knowledge !!!! And use Kaplan lecture notes and videos to just finish your first read,,,,,, till here you re just done with just 20 pc of work ! Now second read alongwith Qs ! Do as many as you can ! USMLEworld is must ! Do it twice.. Do Kaplan Qbank if you can ! UW is awesome along with First Aid !!!

You ll do gr8 !
Ask me any doubts anytime !!
Good luck ! Cheers !

Congrats Buddy!

I have a little question, i'm 3 weeks away from my exam, and EXTREMELY saturated (to the point where I dont want to even open FA lol)

I've done UW once (haven't revised yet, was planning to do it after I finish FA), what would you say is the best approach after Im done revising for FA w/ UW:

1. FA + Goljan Audio?
2. FA + (UW once)?

Hi doc

I used Kaplan Qbank !! Did it once with average 65 pc after i did UW once.. Then i thought it would be better that i do one Qbank again and revise rather than doing two and retaining nothing ! Revising UW was very helpful ! Do Kaplan only if you have time ! A Qbank ( UW or Kaplan ) are just complete provided you do them completely and revise them.. Any tool you use for exam prep without revision before exam is useless !!
So UW being standard stick to it and do it twice may be thrice before exam !

I hope this helps !
Good Luck
CHeers !

Hi Doc !! I have been reading your posts ! Thanks for them !

Listen , saturation at this stage is natural ! 3 weeks to go for exam is just a golden time ! Revise FA and UW !!! Dont even look at anything else ! Did you give any NBMEs ? This is high time ! Just keep going !!
You re just about to reach your destiny !
Good Luck bro
Cheers !

Please tell me how would you recommend me to star study. Where can I get books, videos. There is a lot of web sites, but I need specific information.

Hi Dr Lif
Its a good decision to study for USMLE. If u planning to give step 1 first, gather Kaplan Lectures and Lectures notes from any of your friend and buy a Goljan RR for Path and download its audios. Buy First Aid as well.
All this material is required for step 1 prep.
Start your reading. After first read do USMLEworld Qbank along with topics you revise. Some ppl do it in random mode, which is also good enough.
Start your prep and plan it in a restricted time by taking exam date.
Remember you ll never feel you re fully prepared, its just you have to come upto a certain level of prep to give the exam. That level is assessed by giving NBMEs and UWSAs.
Start it soon and end it soon. Thats the key.
I hope this helps
Good Luck.
