Cool Took Test November 2014

Hey everyone.. just wanted to know if anyone else took the test recently, mine was nov 11 (yesterday), i feel really weird because i dont think the test was that hard; its a normal test, better than nbmes and uworld, im scared because everyone that had awesome grades were saying it was a really difficult test.
but heres the thing even thoug i tought it was normal, i cant be sure if i passed or got a great score.. such a weird feeling..

i was aiming for a 220 at least, hope i get it.. here are my last scores.

Nbme15 207 (4 weeks before)
UWas 1 240 Uwas 2 250 (4 weeks before)
Nbme16 215 (3 weeks before)
Uw once avg 60% second time 93%
usmle.org questions 87%

I did really bad on my nbme thats what scared me the most.. but know i dont even know how to feel.. anyone else feels the same?

I took the exam on the 5th of this month. I kind of had the same experience as you. It wasn't as hard as I recently heard everyone saying but i still made alot of mistakes which i feel will cost me dearly considering i feel that it was a high scoring kind of exam But what's done is done now. We can only hope for the best

I faced the exam on 11th of nov. So I feel myself just like previous autors - nothing special according the length or difficalty of questions. But anyway every question had 2 right answers . My history of preparation was 9 month, and even now I cannot predict wether I passed )) Just hope for the best

I think my mistake was to trust UWSA score. Like you I was getting a good score in UWSA, just to realize that I'm doing poorly in NBME.

All we can do now is hope for the best. It's useless worrying on something you cannot change.

So cheer up!

Default Congrats

Congrats to all who have completed the dreadful exam.

Im due to sit my exam in a month and I just have a few questions.

1) Is FA/UW truly sufficient? that is, if I do UW 2-3 times, is that good and by good I mean to get a good score?
2) I found NBME much different to UW in that I'm doing terribly on the NBME's whereas Im completely fine with UW. Which, would you guys say, is much closer in comparison to the actual exam? [I know that doing both helps]
3)How many CTs/heart sounds etc were there roughly?
4) Was Anatomy heavily weighted? [ive been hearing that they are testing anatomy alot more now]

Would really appreciate any help as I am truly freaking out.

Thanks again and all the best to you all awaiting results!

For ABD - questions Kaplan gives better coverage
2 Heart Sounds - about 5-6 CT scans - nothing unusual
I didn't felt that there were Anatomy tested so much - I felt Pathophysiology were more - like each 2 second questions tied to truly understanding how body works in certain pathology - remember these about 3-4 criteria given and arrows go up and down - I had about 7-8 in total of these type questions. Stay confident - from everything you learnt - you use about 10% in actual exam - for exam I didn't had any MEN 1, 2, 3 related questions - it is like flipping FA skipping 2-3 pages between and getting one question from single paragraph and again flipping and again one question .....

I think it is, everything on my test was in FA, i had a problem because i think i memorized uworld, so my second pass i got a really nice score and I noticed that everybody says uworld is easier but I think it's harder, the thing is, doing it so many times you get used to the questions, as if you did nbme 3 times you will get an 800.
2) I found NBME much different to UW in that I'm doing terribly on the NBME's whereas Im completely fine with UW. Which, would you guys say, is much closer in comparison to the actual exam? [I know that doing both helps] for me it resembled more nbmes, maybe 16/7.. But again I say, I think the test was easier than both (I did poorly on nbmes too)
3)How many CTs/heart sounds etc were there roughly? I had a couple of cts most of them GI, not hard, only 1 neuro. Two sounds, not so hard either.
4) Was Anatomy heavily weighted? [ive been hearing that they are testing anatomy alot more now] I didn't have a lot anatomy, had a looooot of "arrow" questions (up/down) like 20, a lot of reproductive (like a lot) I had more than 40 pregnant women

Cheer up and keep studying, the test is doable, it's not that hard, you just have to be calm, I haven't received my score yet, but even if I don't get an AWESOME score like most of the ppl here, I still think it was a nice, interesting doable exam.. best of lucks

Would really appreciate any help as I am truly freaking out.

Thanks again and all the best to you all awaiting results!

I took my test yesterday and found it ridiculously harder than the nbmes and uworld. I would know the answer almost instantaneously more than half the time on the nbmes i took, but this one I only felt that way about 10 questions per block. I felt like I had brought a knife into a gun fight. Like so many experiments. Did anyone else feel this way?

That's the same about 10 questions you will recognize instantly or they somehow will resemble some of the questions from Q-banks = I'm in doubt and suspicious now regarding my performance , what was the hard site of the exam?

That seems to be the general consensus from all test takers, but everyone ends up doing well or passing. What did you find was so difficult? and What were your nbme scores if you dont mind?

Same here. I thought I know the correct answer... but upon reviewing, there seems to be a better answer. I felt questions were asked differently, and they did twists on the question stems. And I'm someone who changes answers from incorrect to correct at 80% of the time (based on UW and USMLERx).

Another fact. During self assessment exams (NBME, UWSA, etc.) I always have 15 mins spare in every block. This time I only have 5 mins to go over some answers.

So did I have a difficult time? Hell yes! But then again, there's not much that I can do. And worrying will not get me anywhere.

Wow, I appreciate the responses. It makes me feel not alone. Yeah, I have been trying not to think about the exam, but there's that gnawing feeling in the back of my head that I did awful. Honestly, I just want to pass. I wasn't expecting so much anatomy and there were a number of questions that I had no idea what they were even asking for.
On top of that, there were a number of questions where I read the question and felt positive I knew the answer only to scroll down and not have the answer be in the choices. There were also some questions that they would ask like 4 times worded in 4 different ways so if you didn't know that concept you were pretty much screwed on those questions. I felt very well prepared in Biochem but only got asked like 3 Biochem questions. I was definitely guessing a lot more than I have done on UWorld and the NBMES. I also made some stupid mistakes where I knew the answer but panicked and picked the wrong one. I can think of 7 of those. Even with the NBMEs I felt like I would get a good score only to find out that I got a subpar score so the way I felt like I did on this exam makes me really nervous.
I had to take my test on the day I took it. There was no way my school would let me postpone it. My UWorld % first time around was a 63%. I took the following NBMEs:
12: 210
15: 207
Do you guys know when the scores will get posted for the November 20th date?

Hey man, hang in there, you're going to pass. Try to find something to occupy you're time with besides sitting and thinking about the exam. It must ber difficult but you have to for your own sake. If you took it on nov 20th then you will get your score back dec 10th. In three weeks.

As for the anatomy. What kind of questions were they asking. Was it the normal anatomy from first aid or random anatomy Like pelvic, and minutiae detail.

I would say first aid anatomy is sufficient, but you need to know that anatomy in and out. There were definitely some minutiae. I guessed a lot on anatomy because the questions they asked were tricky and I didn't have time to go back to them. I think it depends on the form you get, because other people have told me they had forms with little anatomy and forms with only 1 up and down arrow question and lots of biochem, but my form had a ton of both and little biochem. My overall impression of the exam is that they really can ask you anything. There were questions where they simply took a line out of FA and some that were similar to UWorld, but there were also questions where I got an answer right because it was something random I heard in lecture a year ago or something a doctor randomly said when I was rounding with him that I couldn't have found in review books.

Ohh... now I understand why everyone is telling me they have few anatomy questions while I got 2-5 questions per block. It is still few, compared to physio and pathology, but the number is quite substantial...
