Listening My two options of Kaplan Qbank and USMLE World

From those students that have experience studying for this exam, please tell me which option would be better.

Option 1) 6 months of kaplan review (videos, Kaplan Step 1 Lecture Notes, Kaplan Step 1 Qbank, Kaplan Step 1 Qbook) + 1 month and a half of usmle world

or

Option 2) 5 months of Kaplan review (videos, Kaplan Step 1 Lecture Notes, NO KAPLAN QBANK, Kaplan Step 1 Qbook) + 2 months and a half of usmle world.

This is the one thing I am debating about my study plan.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

no doubt the one with more U World and no Kaplan Q Bank... You get all you need with UW. Do First Aid over and over if you can. that's the best source for step1

Really? Why would you say that? Wouldn't it be good to test yourself with questions after doing the videos?

You should definitely do UW .. no doubt about it. So that means option 2 for you and 2 months is a good time. Its taken me 2 months to go over it once along with a read of FA! It takes time

Now in your option 2 it says you would supplement Kaplan Qbank for UW and keep Kaplan Q Book. Well, from all the experiences and study guides I have read during my prep time, nowhere have I seen anyone mentioning that Kaplan Qbook is necessary or helpful. Its good to do as many questions as you can but if your short on time then I would suggest thats the least of your priorities. You should START with UW and once thats done if you have time do Kaplan Q bank or another round of UW.

Thats just my opinion

Yeah good point. I appreciate your input. How did you do usmle world along with first aid. Did you do a question, read the explanation for the answer, and then look it up in first aid? Because what I was planning on doing was going through uworld atleast twice, take an nmbe, and then do my weak areas with uworld(following alongside first aid).

I swear planning how to study seems the most difficult part of it all

Yeah planning is hard.
I kept my studying plan quite simple.

-One thorough read of KLN along with the Videos.
-Then read FA almost 3x now (going to read it atleast twice more before my exam).
-And for questions, Im doing UW.

Thats about it lol

As for UW .. I am doing just questions and then reviewing the blocks. I found it really hard at the beginning and was getting 40% ! Now my average is up to 45% but its really what you learn from it that matters. I stopped doing questions when i was getting low averages and read FA again. Since then my avg has been going up slow and steady!

GOOD LUCK!

Default FA + UWorld + DIT

Hey, I'm doing DIT and Uworld along with FA every day! Iv been through FA at least 5 times, and seen DIT like 3 (it keeps me motivated and helps me concentrate), plus doing 1 block every day!
Any advices if I'm still getting 30%-40%?. My examen is in december!
