Angry Please answer this question about pathoma because I am confused out of my mind!!!!!!!

I finished the book with videos in 20 days. I do understand the concept for this disease its this enzyme or x missing and these are the symptoms and findings

NOW WHAT???

Where does the memorization part come up after reading 1000 diseases? its really hard to remember what is to what and what detail is going with what disease

and people are like learn the concept don't memorize blah blah after reading 1000 diseases I think you have to memorize some details.

can someone clear this for me?

Well IMO, this is the part where the qbanks come to play. Studying "a 1000 diseases" like you said can be very confusing, that is why you have to learn HOW to IDENTIFY them in a clinical vignette, which is how you will mostly be asked in the step 1.

So start taking qbanks, start with short ones, to get a hold of them, then you can increase the number of questions. Remember that the most important part is reviewing the answers, then practice, practice and then some more practice.

Good luck!

I just drew out all the stuff he says on his videos into my book with labels here and there if needed. Then after my pathoma read, I annotated important Pathoma concepts/mechanisms into my FA Path sections (took me quite some time but I think it was worth it.)

Regarding remembering 1000+ diseases, yes it's hard and it's harder to remember more than a handful of salient features for each disease (as Step 1 can be rather pedantic as they seem to be obsessed with some of those minutiae), so as the poster above mentioned, Qbanks, qbanks, qbanks. That is one resource that will get you to learn diseases and more importantly, identify them when presented in a vignette.

The other thing is repetition and more repetition. I have done so many reads of FA before I could actually remember some of the obscure points (and I still don't remember every single detail.) Make sure to annotate important qbank notes and notes from other books into FA, as that's ultimately what you want to review twice, thrice, 4 times etc.
