Drug Prophylactic Antibiotic before Appendectomy!

A 17-year old male presents with right lower quadrant abdominal pain with guarding and rebound. A CT scan demonstrates appendicitis and he is taken
to the operating room. What it would be a good antibiotic to administer
prophylactically before the surgery?
A. Cefazolin.
B. Cefoxitin.
C. Ceftriaxone.
D. Aztreonam.
E. Oxacillin.

A. Cefazolin.
the first generation of cephalosporins are the best for surgical prophylaxis but other generations have little spectrum on gram positive bacteria

shldnt we cover for pseudomonas, e.coli and the anaerobes...

1st generation has also coverage for gram negative
