Default vaginal bleeding

A 25-year-old female presents with vaginal bleeding during her first trimester. Examination shows her uterus to be abnormally enlarged. She is noted to have edematous placental villi. Elevation of which hormone is considered diagnostic?
A. Human chorioinic gonadotropin
B. Estrogen
C. Progesterone
D. Follicle stimulating hormone
E. Lutenizing hormone
