Arrow My Exam Experience 224/96

Test Date : 18th jul,2011
Result Date : 10th aug,2011
Score: 224/96
I have been a regular visitor to this forum and got a alot of help from it,s my duty now to return to this forum....sorry for posting late as i was busy with family ...
My Background:
.....I am FMG gratuated in 2006 married and moved to US ...was totally out of touch from studies for almost 3 and a half years as i had always assumed that the test is very hard and my husband didnt really want me to go back to stressful life of studying so i was just chilling out but i am glad that i realized that atleast i should give it a shot so i started studying in oct 2010 but on and off as i had to go back home in between but i seriously think that if u give 8 to 10 hours daily ... 6 to 7 months are more than enough for this exam...
My prep:
Started studying with kaplan lecture notes and watching dvds ....dvds were really helpful ...i did them for all subjects except pathology ...first reading takes most of the time so give it time and try to understand the basic concepts i kept it simple follow kaplan books for all subjects except pathology, for which i did goljan 3rd edition...initially found it very hard but then after first reading started liking other than kaplan and goljan , i did High yield neuroanatomy and molecular and first aid 2010...
after 2 readings of kaplan ...i started FIRST Aid and that was the best decission i made ..i started doin uworld and adding notes and imp stuff from goljan and uworld to FA and after that i mainly focus on FA ...I DID UWORLD 2 TIMES ...and loved all the explainations ..
did uwsa almost 5 weeks before xam my scores were
UWSA 1 580/238 (5 weeks before exam)
offline nbme 1, 2, 3,4 was getting 70 to 80 % correct
NBME 7 ONLINE 230 ( 10 days before exam)
i did practice test at the centre and i highly recommend it 84% really helped me staying calm in the actual test as i was really nervous on practice test but got over with it on actual exam..
was a bit nervous but once it started felt ok.... actually i was more nervous doing the nbme and practice test and got over the fear by doing the nbmes and practice test so try to do that online so u know about the timmings and all..and it helps u staying calm on the actual test day...
i found the test very doable....May be i got lucky or something but i didnt understand why alot of people keep saying that the etst is very hard and all.....guys its nothing impossible...almost 80% of the test is from FA SO DO TRY TO DO IT 4 TO 5 TIMES ....but ofcourse u need to have basic concepts from kaplan first before moving on to FA...had alot of neuro but i am glad that i had agood understanding of neuro...kaplan neuro helped alot ...only few questions are i guess experimental may be only 4 or 5 in whole test...
most of the qs on test test the basic knowledge and concepts in uworld ....
i cant figure out what else to write ...but if u have any qs ...feel free to ask...i will be visting the forum to help any qs u may have..
but my conclusion is...if u give it ur best shot ...this test is very doable and FA FA FA is a MUST....GOOD LUCK GUYS...
