congratulations!
it seems that the NBMEs were a REALLY accurate predictor of your score!
I'm definitely going to take them a short time before my exam too.
I'm going to start preparing soon, just gathering the material.
Do you have any tipps? Did you study Anatomy just from Kaplan LN? or Kaplan videos too, or other books? How about Histology and Cell bio?

Thank you and enjoy this feeling- you are done with step 11!

i think in the end uworld and first aid can get u high scores,i think kaplan
lecture notes were necessary to make foundation stronger,it took me around 16 months , serious study period was 10 months

F.A has all u need ,but to study F.A u need some base so it depends on ur background knowledge.i think combinations u hav written is good for 99 but am not sure abt tym.

yazz as u know i took a long time ,i think fear factor was vey time consuming
wht u can do is go through kaplan +F.A .do usmle world systemically along with F.A ,,,and then u can take nbme to see if u r ready? if u hav time u can think of doing kaplan q bank, practicing more qs will get u high score .i know people who hav done step 1 in 5 months but since u have tough routine .u may need some more time.between let me knw ur target score?one more thing this exam is doable they ask important things not the minute details u just hav to make connections

to be very honest yasir i read kaplan lecture notes five times but i think it varies u may need 2 to 3 reads only .important thing is to practice maximum qs.i would say number questions practiced directly propotional to ur score

actually i started preparing for step 1 in april but begin very slowly then get some moment and m fourth year student so i think i shouldnot postponed exam 2 months left ... i want to appear in first week of november and i have left with uworld and give 2 more reads of kaplan and 2 reads of first aid .. i think that would b sufficient ? and also plz tell me that kaplan q bank helped u or not? coz some of people saying that nowadays kaplan q bank is really helpful and some are saying u should concenterate on just one q bank and which is uworld .. so i was sort of double minded

thts a very good percentage ,u might not need third read ,when u r done with second read and u world u should take NBME .i think u ll be ready for 99.
kaplan q bank was beneficial but u world is much more important, i would say if u hav time u can do kaplan q bank quickly in ten to fifteen days, but again its not very essential

congrats bro,i have a question running in ma mind,i wonder if someone has not studied very well during the medical school and wants to give step 1 after graduation, would kaplan and FA be enough to make a concept required for usmle..let's assume i have studied physio, patho, pharma etc just once in ma medical school life and now i am weak in these so should i study them from text books like robbins, guyton etc or kaplan and FA would be enough..thanks in advance

F.A covers almost everything.nbme 7,11,12 r more accurate these days.+ u should redo questions u got wrong in uworld.hope i hav answered ur qs

sufi, congrats!..

1. Can u be a little more specific in how to use FA... im acutally reading kaplan book and in my second or third reading i have FA at my side annotating what i think is missing. After i finish annotating i then only use FA.

2. I want to complete 2 major qbanks, first kaplan in a tutor mode, and afterward when im finished reading everything i will kill usmle world. Can u tell us how u think one would benefit more with uworld.

thanks for the advice...

Default Congratulation

CONGRATULATION and best of luck in your next missions and career

but kindly ,can you tell me as you experienced three question banks ,what is the difference between them ,and which is better kaplan or usmlerx bcz i know that uworld is a must and on the top of the list ,,, but does the others are also necessary and what the pros and cons of them and which is better (kaplan or usmlerx)....

second question : can we say that FA material cover all content of the exam if you understand this book , i mean if I'm now studying kaplan ,my purpose is to clarify the ideas in the FA not to add additional notes on FA ,is that true ????

and thanks in advance

thank u latin george.1.the way u r using F.A is the right way .i would suggest after u get done with kaplan and adding notes to F.A ,go through F.A cover to cover atleast two to three times.
2.usmle world is great learning tool , u should add important points to F.A .dont waste ur tym taking seperate notes .must redo qs u got wrong.
besides everytime u get q wrong ,try to find out reason why u got it wrong?gradually u will cover ur weaknesses .good luck for 270

usmlerx was beneficial, but only if u hav time after doing kaplan and uworld.there is an offline version as well.first aid q book has 1000 good quality question taken from usmle rx ,i think if u do those tht would be sufficient.

but kindly ,can you tell me as you experienced three question banks ,what is the difference between them ,and which is better kaplan or usmlerx bcz i know that uworld is a must and on the top of the list ,,, but does the others are also necessary and what the pros and cons of them and which is better (kaplan or usmlerx)....

second question : can we say that FA material cover all content of the exam if you understand this book , i mean if I'm now studying kaplan ,my purpose is to clarify the ideas in the FA not to add additional notes on FA ,is that true ????

and thanks in advance
thanks rayatt.kaplan q bank is better than usmle rx. F.A covers almost 90% of material tested ,if u can understand it then its fine .i knw people on this forum who hav done F.A + uworld only and got high 99.but i think kaplan q bank helped me as well.

Default can u give me some advise/?

i have posted it as a new thread already, but i need ur sincere advice.

I'm an IMG. I need your sincere advice. I am preparing for my step one, which i'm planning to take at the end of Oct. if i am ready. I finished my qbank individual test scores (46 q set) were around 60% when i completed it and i scored 61% on qbank plus simulated test. Then i started doing usmleworld. As i hav some more time, i was doing uworld quizs off and on while reviewing stuff., 2 sets per time whenever i do it., now like 20 tests done. Cumulative is 56% so far..ranging from 50% - 73%. Today, i just wanted to test how my scores would reflect with NBME, i bought form 7 and took it online. Unfortunately, i got only 193 ( 390 NBME score). I was really really pissed off and sad. How come i got such a horrible score that i hv never thought of after studying several months. I felt easy and quite confident while i was taking this and expected i would score quite OK.
The weak points i have found about myself - i have lost my momentum when i 'm done with my Kaplan qbank and its simulated test last month and it's expired now. I am quite afraid that i will use up my uworld questions before my exam. Actually i haven't set a date yet. But i feel really low today with this set of NBME. As it points out where i am, not what i am weak in. SHould i find online answers and review it (form7)? or keep on with my reviews? I have read FA according to the page reference in qbank and reading chapter by chapter now. I have read Kaplan Lecture notes once. According to NBME assessment profile detail, i got very low scores in Physio, Patho and Histology.
IN these days, whenever i review after taking quizs, i feel like i know stuff quite well, except some of those in Uworld. Is it possible that i dun catch up the tone of NBME ? I 'm well aware that NBME scores prediction do matter a lot for me. i think i need to review FA again. Can you give me some advice how to proceed? I will only take it when i'm ready. I 'm aiming for 2013 residency .
