Rotations before step 1?

Is it advisable to do rotations before step 1?
I am a Canadian, who finished basic science from a carib school. Currently, I am preparing for USMLE 1. Its not going that great so far, some days are better than other. I plan to study 10+ hours a day but I end up gettin 4-6 hours on average per day. I hate it, and I know I can do better.
But, recently, I got in touch with my schools clinical coordinator and he told me that he can set me up with rotations in Toronto before step 1. According to him, it will help me study for step 1 and also motivate me. I will be able to make more effective use and can save time.
But if I pursue rotations, I am taking time out from USMLE 1, when most ppl give 6-7 months of 10-12 hr studying.
So I am so confused about this. Can someone please shed some light here?
Thanks
