Default I registered for the exam but did not do it...what happens?

Hello guys,

I applied for the step 1 exam 8 months ago....my eligibility period ended and I extended for 3 more months....these 3 months ended also without doing the exam..

what happens now? I need to apply and pay again only? or that's considered a red flag and reported on my score report?

Dear,
You will have to re-apply, pay another $850 for step 1, get another eligible period next year.
If you did not show up at prometric center so it doesn't count an attempt. Stay tune and be well-prepared for your next.
Best,

Ok that's great.... i am just worried that it would stick on my profile until applying for the match...

I am ok with paying the fees again, but not being marked as "2nd attempt"

Hey bro, I am in the same situation. I payed the fees in march 2013 but couldn't send my documents due to some reason, now I sent my documents this month, supposed if it get processed and they give me elgibility period jan, feb, march, so will I have to give exam by march or still i will have my chance to one time extend to the next triplet ? I mean can we take our that one time extension to the next year like in my case

you can extend for a triplet after your original eligibility period...

but if I were you, I will choose my eligibility period to be March-April-May....it's much better than Jan-Feb-Mar

You should be able to pay $70 for an extended period Jan-March/2015 by this time. Please login and check it in you ECFMG Oasis.
If you are not able to do that ( because your 186 has not been processed/ verified), I think you will have to pay another time for step 1.
Kind regards,

Unfortunately you will have to pay again. If you apply for an extension and the extension period ends then you need to reapply and pay again. The good news is that it will not stick in your profile. If you were not well prepared that was the best decision. If you pass the score will be permanent and you will not be able to retake it to improve your score so my advice: Keep studying, don't give up. And take it as soon as you can.
Best Luck!
