Default question on hemoglobinemia, and test tubes.

Hi guys, I have a question relating to hemoglobinemia and ..... test tubes.

I am assuming that when you get a Hb value of 13.5g/dL -17.5g/dL in a normal male, that is due to the Hb analyzer picking out samples from the red coat (erythrocyte coat) of a test tube. I am also guessing that in hemoglobinemia some of that Hb hemolyzed from blood, floats up to the plasma level of the test tube (or did not just get spun down).

So my question is , should the Hb lab value not go down in hemoglobinemia ?????
