Planning Four months plan to get over 95

Dear friends,

Let me tell how I got 96 in USMLE step 1 after only 4 months of reading.

  • I read First Aid once then started reading MedEssentials. While reading medessentials I was adding notes to my FA of whatever I see is better written in medessentials. Then I left medessentials and did not go back to it at all. Finished in three weeks.
  • Then I read FA second time. Finished in two weeks
  • Then I started Kaplan qbank and whenever I find something that I don't remember I go back to my FA. (note that Kaplan qbank is referenced from the exact FA page finished in six weeks.
  • Then I did UWorld one time (no repetition of wrong answers) finished in four weeks.
  • Then I did NBME form 2 (half day is enough for that)

Then I took the exam

The whole process has taken me 15 weeks only.

You can do it

That's a great plan, thank you for sharing
but can I ask you why it took longer time for Kaplan qbank as opposed to UWorld?

Kaplan qbank has more questions than UW and also it's always getting easier as you move along that why UW took shorter because it was the second qbank which is when your knowledge have built up and things start to become easier.
