a father who had lost his daughter as a result of traffic accident involving a drunk driver, organizes a campaign to stop the sale of liquor to minors and mandatory jail time for anyone convicted of drunk driving."if i cant get my girl back, atleast i will make sure that it doesnt happen to another father"" he says
the defense mechanism accounting for his behavior is
1)acting out
2)suppression
3)sublimation
4)reaction formation
5)displacement
i thought sublimmation is to replace unacceptable wish with actions similar to wish but does not conflict with other values. for example sadist person maybe become dentist!
how we can use it in this casE?

Sublimations is as you said to replace an unaccepted wish with an action similar that doesn't conflict one's value system,
If I understand correctly, the unaccepted wish is the loss of his daughter
actions similar is the law and the decrease in alcohol availabilty
value system : making sure no one else looses their daughter.
I ALSO don't think any of the other defense mechanisms fit.
the correct answer is sublimation.....i too got it wrong at the very first time
defense mechanisms are important for step 1....we must get our concepts correct about them
Its an obvious post..all of have this mechanism and its quite brilliant..some people know well to use it and some do not..but everyone should consider it as a good tool whenever we are in danger or a harm..
