Planning How should I move on?

Hello guys,

I have been studying since February, attended live lectures with Kaplan till May. Took Kaplan Simulated exam and had only 36%.
In June started to study on my own, watching Kaplan videos, reading Kaplan Step 1 Notes and doing UW. So far I have covered Biochemistry, Physio, Pharm and Path. I feel like I am going too slow...
I still have not reviewed such things as Micro, Imuno, Genetics and Cell Biology.
I am working full time as a scientist and have only 3-4 hours to study each day.

My scores on UW qbank are 60-70%

Please, give me an advice, how should I move on if I am still planning on taking exam in November?

Slow movement is expected when you are studying part time.

I suggest you continue what you are doing but you have to take 2-3 weeks OFF before your exam day, to consolidate and to give full focus.

USMLE Step 1 exam should not be taken lightly, specially int the case of graduates as opposed to students.

Hi DocSikorski,

We agree with StepTaker, continue as you are because you're making progress (as long as those UW scores are from using unused questions.) Don't worry about the sim exam score - the purpose of that exam is to find your weaker areas that need more attention. Hopefully you have a study plan so you can get through the material on time, and then can take timed qbank tests of all subjects. We can send you (free) study tips to help you focus and speed up your progress. Just write to kapmed@kaplan.com. They're too long to post here.

Yeah, scores from UW are from unused questions.
I felt like Kaplan Simulation Exam had more than a half questions of Immunology and Genetics... The subjects that make my mind go blank...
Thank you, sometimes you just need someone to tell you that you are on the right track...
