Relax, you are over 200.
For IM I will say is good enough.
All people I know with 80's and 85's are doing IM.

1st r u student or graduate?
with this score, u can surely get 99 around 230-235.. so don't worry, there is always hope and luck as well. believe in it and do what u want to do the most, with my knowledge you can get all these programs u have mentioned!

hi salz..i graduated in dec 2010...doing my internship...
i dont know...what if i dont get a match...
i really want to stick to one field...thats why i wanted to know...if peds would be a better option...i dont want to be tensed all the time.." what happens if i dont match" .."what will i do" etc...
and i dont think so..a score of 205-212...can reach up to 230...
they say max...+5...

exam in a week...

First, relax, your exam is in a Week, so you better calm down, prioritize things, for example, arrange FA per day, for around 80 pages per day, read it and keep doing at least 1 qbank per day.

Its hard, but this is your final week so you btter give it all.... the day before the exam, i would recomend you to go with free 150 question ( just that ) and review if you want some fogetteables things... No study after 3-4 pm the day before...

With that i think you are more than great for the exam...

Remember the Markable things for your exam day as DIT says... It will help...

Like:
- Biostats ( sen, spec, ppv, npv, etc )
- error square
- Some Cd markers if you dont know then already.
- Developmental on childrens
- Phram Formulas
- Lung Diagraphm

Test Day Tips ( DIT Advise )

• Bring a cooler with ice, water, Gatorade, juices, ... , Pack a lunch, Bring some fruits and snacks,
(You may not be able to predict what you're going to want to eat so it's better to bring too much than too
little) Eat light, not heavy.

• Consider getting out in the sun and/or stretching during your breaks.
• Bring a light sweater to shirt in case it's cold.
• Don't forget your ID and USMLE pass.
• Take your breaks when you need them/however you want them (for example: 2 sections ~break
~ 2 sections ~break ~ 1 section ~break ~2 sections) Some breaks may need to be longer than others.
Don't be afraid to take a small 5 min bathroom break.

• Expect 5-10 questions in each section that you have never seen before. If you expect this, then it won't freak you out when it happens (and it will happen).

=)

thanx rulz..but i am really not sure of how much can i rise now...i have read FA a no of times now..and i think i will only read the marked topics...topics i feel i am weak at...i cannot do more than that...
so my question here was...would i be a good IM candidate...should i change my electives to peds or FM ..cause i dont see much chances of me getting IM with a step score of 200-210..

Default i feel sorry but i think it's a fair opinion

if i were in your shoes i would delay my exam for at least 2 months. . .
reason in i m also an img,,,,every1 is getting 99 now-a-days. . .and the more you get the better it is. . .and seriously i have always been told and i have seen it whatever comes in nbme is step1 score plus minus 5. . .do you accept your score in 200 to 210 range. . .?if yes go for the exam,,if no delay for 2 months.. . .concentrate on patho, pharma and biochem bcz these three subjects are heavily tested. . .
i know one of my senior who had 93,94 electives,CS passed in first attempt and got residency in paeds. .your main problem is you know what?
you r doing internship...you can't take step1 with internship . .take at least 45 days off. . .step1 is a full fledge job. . .my sincere advice to you is delay the exam. . .it's hard. . .

ya i am already off my internship..i mean..i have taken a break....i am just sitting at home studying..
and delaying the exam by 2 months is not possible...i just cannot even study for 1 more day..extra...i have been studying since jan...
ill just take the exam i guess....do u have any idea about FM??
i mean...are there appropriate no of seats...what are the chances if i have to come back to india..what do i do with my FM degree...
and would i be able to get in peds even?? with a score in 80's??

ok so i think it is very possible that u can get more score than 205, ur score can come up to be 230 .. it depends on luck. God is great and nothing is impossible for Him.
and i would recommend u not to think about changing ur electives right now. Go with what the plan is right now. what if you actually get lucky and get 99. and before it u changed ur rotation and then u would be all like i am so stupid. just believe in urself and keep going with the plan A.
read ur weak areas and go in to exam.
u can still get IM with this score. my friend had 78 and he got into neurology and i am sure there r many examples like it. as they say everyone gets 99. many ppl don get 99 too . i know ppl who are doing jobs in their own countries and not in usa cuz they were rejected despite of 99. so what i would recommend u is, don't yet think about ur residency, it is distracting u. focus on step 1 only and then think about step 2 ck and cs.
and take a chill pill

Help Do I stand a chance at my age?

I am a 41 years old OB/GYN in Brazil and plan to spend the next three years preparing myself to take steps 1 and 2. According to my estimations, I’ll be ready to match in 2019.
The idea is to stay in Brazil studding while working in a part-time OB/GYN position here in order to not have any gap in my practice until the match.
My senior year was 1998. I joined in 1999 the Universidade Federal do Amazonas OB/GYN residence program, having concluded it in 2001 – Back then, the duration of the OB/GYN Residency Programs was just two years in Brazil. I am board certificated in Brazil and have since, exercised my specialty uninterruptedly.
Actually, I am an U.S. Passport holder in view of the fact that I was born overseas to a parent who was an U.S. citizen.
Naturally, I would like to acquire in my area of interest, some medical experience in the United States before the 2019 Match.
However, I do not know what scores I should achieve in steps 1 and 2 to make this adventure comfortably possible.
Honestly, I wonder if even getting a good score would be enough to prevent my application from been broken down by the Program Directors given my age and time since graduation.
I look forward your advice on this matter
