Default Quinidine and paradoxical tachycardia?

Can anybody please help me in this that why does quinidine cause paradoxical tachycardia when employed for conversion of atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter ?

Because it increases the QT interval.

Any drug that increases QT interval, predispose patient to TORSADES DE POINTES (FA page 258)
