Kaplan Medical Is Kaplan that bad for patho?

I know everybody recommends Goljan but i really don't like that book. i can do like 8 pages/day with that book!! i don't like its format actually .. the way everything is in an outline form ... anyway i just wanted to know is Kaplan that bad for patho?? I don't even have the Kaplan patho book because no one told me to read it so i didn't even bother buying it.

Have they not given sufficient information in Kaplan? please give your opinions guys.... especially those who did it from Kaplan, if any1 did!

If u have time, do both. I did both. Goljan is easy if u read the book after listening to the audios.

Default no, not bad

Kaplan's pathology isn't bad at all .. and Goljan's isn't that awesome also, unless you use it with the lectures, then it's the best source for studying pathology .. that's my opinion

Default you should check ut kaplan too

i did kaplan patho ..now i am on my second read of kaplan series...i love the book along with lectures...i was going too slow with goljan so i left it after 2- 3 days ....now i am going to rely on kaplan ...my few friends did same ..they took the exam recently ..they got really good score ....and they told me they didnt have any problem in patho qs ....so i guess do whatever suits you .....best thing about usmle prep is do it your way!

I'm doing BRS Pathology + Kaplan pathology + Goljan slides. I hate RR pathology, it's one fat book!

i dont know why u ppl dont like goljan...in my opinion goljan is d best book for usmle..and i realised it after i was done wid 70% of the uworld ..wen i read it after doing uworld, every single line of goljan seemed important and there were sooo many questions straight frm goljan...it may seem tedious but it is definately much better than kaplan or first aid...

[QUOTE=drmeena;67877]

yeah kaplan IS bad for patho....there's no explanation given for any topic....lot of topics are missed ....i started patho with full interest but very disappointed...its such a waste of time....not even the lectures are useful...they just highlight the important points ...no use

do you have goljan videos by the way???

Goljan is good because it covers many other subjects like micro, medical genetics some biochem and physio in a concise manner alongwith patho and helps in relating and remembering. Yes it is a fat book, but the content covers a lot of other topics too, lost of medicine of step2 is also included IMO.

the kaplan pathology book in the introduction page clearly states....
"the notes are not complete review books and are to be accompanied by faculty lectures live, on video or on the web. READING THEM WITHOUT ANY ACCOMPANYING LECTURES IS NOT AN EFFECTIVE WAY TO REVIEW FOR THE USMLE"

i am studying from the kaplan lecture notes.. and have read goljan too. but towards the end.. goljan book (although incredibly great!!) needs MULTIPLE readings to remember... cos it is too much for me to remember everything in there.
for a shorter syllabus.. kaplan books PLUS VIDEOS... are very very good...
you will obviously be doing FA. so supplement kaplan notes(after annotating with vidoes and explanations) with FA ( for anything that u may have skipped or thouhgt is not high yield but is mentioned in FA... and u have patho done... in a do-able book !!!

Kaplan patho is not a bad book.
You can augment it with Goljan audios, plus qbanks.

But if u think ur pathology is not very good then u can go for Goljan and only use it as a reference.
