t ws almost d same 4 me, marked almost 10- 13 qs per block
regarding the qs;
to almost 15 - 20% i was totally new, so had to guess
arund 20% i knew something about them, but had to guesss with logic
almost 60% of qs i din have to guess, half of which im pretty sure is right
din have enough time for the 6th block, so did a blind guess for 3 qs

've got no idea regarding the score...hoping for good scores, but scared if i may fail...heart pounding hard...

hmm..20-25 questns per block for around 4 blocks..nd around 15 questns for the last 3 blocks..n d questns were very different. .not like ppl say u cn just do with FA nd uworld..was very different. . i felt that the first 4 blocks of mine very hard..my brain didnt evn sense some..had to read some for many times to understand wt is he trying to ask.. n at d end in vain without an answer..guess!!nd was literally shivering to see dat i jjust dont have time..had to put some evn without stdying d questn stem. But felt last 3 blocks were good i mean better than the first 4..might b coz I started concentrating then neways my xm was really bad.. afraid of the results actually totally my xm was guess work..

What did u do in ur final month of studying, and what would you say is the single most important resource for studying aside from FA?

Wrote the exam on 30th october, 2014. There was some delay in verification on part of my college. So got the result now.
My NBME scores :

Nbme 13 - 243
Nbme 15 - 245
Nbme 16 - 251
Uwsa 1 - >260 (Can't recall the exact score)

Uworld 2014 - Online - Average >80%

So, yes, latest NBMEs give you the best practice and the best correlation.

Hey,
Congratulations for your greAt score.
Need some guide please. My step 1 is on March 2nd(about 3 weeks later).
1)Do you recommend to take a look at FA 2015?! I'm doing the 3rd pass of my FA2014.
2) did you have any kinda pictures from parasites?!
3) what about anatomy?! From which section you had most of the questions?! Any kind of muscle insertion site question?!
Thank you in advance...

Hi there,
Congratulations on your great score. Can you help me with this?! My exam in 3 weeks.
Did you have many anatomy questions?! This is my weakest spot and I donT have enough time to do more on anatomy including neuroanatomy.
What's your opinion?!

ya..sure!! what I personally suggest is just go thru FA nd uworld questns well..as u say its ur wk subject..just to gain confidence over it.. but der wont be much of anat actually..but u cnt just miss uworld questns
if at all u get also..it wd b d same with many others..as many feel anat hard..
dont panic..be confident..chek ur nbme wrng questns..keep revising FA nd uworld as much as u cn.
u wd surely get to see new questns on ur xm..but they wd b d same with many others..I say don wrry about those odd ines..u shud b just able to crack d ones wich r d easy ones..u cnt just afford to miss easy questns..
n dats it..stay healthy..eat well..u wd do wonders best of luck..

Dear neha4918,
Please help. I'm kinda freaked out about time management. At the very ideal situation I only have 5 mins to come back and review my marked questions when doing nbmes. Even I had 2 blocks that I ran out of time and selected 2 qs by chance. My highest nbme score is 243 for nbme13 and I will do nbme16 and free 150 freds 2-3 days before exam. Since I know that there are more long and time taking qs in the real exam I think I will have problem in the real exam. What is your recommendation?! Also do you think I should do uw self assessments too?!
Thank you again...

hey hii..reg time management I suggest u that if u get any long stem questns read it just only once..if u dnt understand read it again..if u dnt understand it again leave it n move ahead.. coz those questns no one wd get right..n there wd b many easy questns ahead waiting to be answered. try n read d stem asap..n knw wt is he trying to ask soon.
Make sure in ur next nbmes u have same 10 -15 mins left to answer.den u wd solve the final xm questns in time.
n don worry getting 243 in nbme 13 is itself a good sign.u wd just crack it well!!
Finally dnt read d questns u dont understand/dnt knw many times..will nt yield u anything. Step forward for other questns which may b quite easy!!
N I advice u to do d uwsa also.coz they r conceptual I think but onky if u have tym.but do nbme 15 n 16 for sure.
ok.gud luk then.tc

Well, mainly I revised up on the subjects I had weaker performance in NMBE 15. Also, when I took NBME 15 I wasn't actually through with the whole syllabus, so I guess that played a role. Also, something as important as studying is - Time Management. I missed a few questions on NBME 15. Tried to manage time better on NBME 16.

Hey again sorry for a late reply. Well, in my opinion there are no significant changes in FA2015 as compared to 14. Moreover, you have already read that book 3 times. So wouldn't recommend buying the new one. Stick with 14. Remember, First Aid is simply a revision tool. You need to understand that you are not going to get many "buzzword" type questions in your actual exam. What you need is strong concepts. FA is there to facilitate that. Don't consider it "the ultimate tome of knowledge that's going to get me through".

About parasites. No, I didn't get pictures of any pathogen not even bacteria. Or maybe there were a few I don't remember. But surely there were no parasites. Also, no gross or histological specimens. I did get MRI's and X - Ray's.

In anatomy, I don't think I got any muscle insertion etc. question. Although, I did get 4 questions on Incontinence. Though people have said that they got some muscle attachment questions, but I didn't. But, yes, do read incontinence. Everyone is getting those.

Hope that helped.

Thanks a lot for the help, regarding incontinence you mean only urinary or defecation also?! Which book do you recommend for that?! There's a table in goljan's RR. Do you think it is enough?! It's only talking about the mechanism and treatment for 4 types of urinary incontinence...
Thank you again...

Yes, only urinary incontinence, not rectal. I used some pages of FA for Step 2 CK which had a table explaining the various types with mechanism, cause and treatment. Someone posted them on this forum.
Also, I read it from Kaplan LN for Step 2 CK(Gynae/Obs.). And its mainly the mechanism and treatment you need to know, nothing too detailed. I haven't seen such a table in Goljan but if its there, go for it.
The questions on the exam mainly describe the symptoms of the patient and then you have to choose which type of incontinence it is. Pretty straightforward.
