Default Alpha 2 anatogonist....?

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knows what is the mechanism where alpha 2 antagonist causes a decrease release of NE . In the Kalan pharma book it is written both alpha 2 agonist and antagonist block the release of NE. Alpha 2 agonist I understand but I cant make out the MOA of alpha 2 antagonist causing a decrease. Thanks in advance.

Alpha2 blockers will increase the release of NE and serotonine. mirtazapine is a typical example of alpha2 blocker which is used for depression. (FA 2014)

Well, it disinhibits the inhibition caused by alpha2. Alpha2 is a presynaptic receptor which inhibits release of neurotransmitters. When you inhibit the inhibitor the release will be increased.

a2 antagonist leads to inhibition of inhibition NE release , what will make NE high . MAO inhibitors also make NE high , but they work other way . they block MAO, which destroys NE . so if there are not NE destroyers(MAO), NE will increase .

You're 100% right but he meant mechanism of action ( MOA)
