Default back from the exam.....

Well,

I took the exam today, it was a long tiring day!!
actually the exam wasn't as I expected, it was a bit hard...for me
it is easier than UW but harder than NBME.

I have been preparing for this exam for 8 months full time, my scores in NBME, UW and UWSA was good, so I was confident, but I dont know why I felt the exam hard, someQ were twisted, not straight forward, you need to be carefull when reading the stem every word has it's weight and help you to eliminate the choices.

I got at least 3 NBME Q, unfortunatly many biostat and GENETIC+++
I didn't felt that pathology was the main area tested, I was hited by many experimental studies and mol biol, , but I did my best to choose the best answer,

I got a terrible back pain during 3rd block, and it was getting worse, fortunatly i brought with me tylenol, so this is my advise bring some pain killer in case of migraine or other pains

for the timing it was OK, enough for every block, I had an average of 15 mn to review my marked Q. the timing is much more better than in CK for those who are done with CK, the stems are shorter than the CK also.

I 'm happy though, I can move on

I will be happy to answer your questions,

Thumbs Up

Congrats man!
Thanks for sharing yer experience!
I saw yer useful posts in this forum, so u must have a great score.

I got a couple questions for you (I know u had lots of them today, but anyway)

How do u know if the q is experimental or just a hard one?

it is weird that u say that there were not that much of path. Do u thing that questions themselves were having a lot of words in them? were there a lot of useless/distracting info in the stem of the questions themselves?

And would you recomend anyone just read the last sentence of the question and move from there?

Thank you,
Once again - congratulations!!!

thank you for your wishes,

it is weird that u say that there were not that much of path. Do u thing that questions themselves were having a lot of words in them? were there a lot of useless/distracting info in the stem of the questions themselves? yes this is what i felt not a lot of path Q is it just an impression, i dont know

And would you recomend anyone just read the last sentence of the question and move from there? oh no at all, this is not CK, you need to read all the stemp maybe you will encouter one or 2 Q where you can skip the stem but i do not recommand that as the Q is not very long like in CK, average 4 -5 lines,, what i recommand is to read all the choices, than eliminate the wrong one, it happens to me to think about the answer and pick it up without reading all the choices, but when i review it after i marked it, i realize that i was wrong, so read everything you have enough time.

Did Kaplan Q-A help you a lot or a little bit for your usmle step 1 exam? Or FA? Or UW? I think everything will be ok for you.

Crimsonboy
Do you think it a person can get 90+ using........in about 5 months doing 8 t 10 hrs per day? sure you can if you study seriously full time especially if you ve taken CK before. the key is to do as much Q as you can, and go back to your notes every time you got a Q wrong.

jaimin
can u recommend any source or file for mol bio and behaviour....what was helpful for me is UW, so if you can do all Q and master them you will be OK

dr spr
can u please tell me where did u do the cts and MRI'S frm? ..well: I didn't have a source but I used UW and google.

docnok: Did Kaplan Q-A help you a lot or a little bit for your usmle step 1 exam? Or FA? Or UW? ....I didn't do kaplan so I have no idea aout it, also FA, I just practiced in UW and all NBME except NBME 1 because of time.
dinosaur108 Can you tell me which book and qbank was most useful for you? UW++++++
How much weightage was given to slide and multimedia question? I can say 10 %.
Experimental questions was within your concept or not? yes,
