Question 23-year-old female with upper respiratory infection and fever Q?

E. D., a 23 year old white patient, was seen to the clinic with symptoms of an upper respiratory infection and a high fever. Penicillin was administered and the patient was seen again a few days later because of the persistently elevated temperature. Enlarged posterior cervical glands were noted.

The spleen could not be felt but the patient had hepatomegaly and jaundice. He appeared acutely ill with the temperature spiking to 104 and 105 degrees. Peripheral blood smear is shown below:

Which of the following statements is not correct regarding this condition?

A) The disease is usually a self-limited disorder
B)
The underlying cause of the disease has an affinity for B lymphocytes
C)
Atypical CD8 T-lymphocytes are seen in peripheral blood smear
D)
The disease is marked by heterophil antibodies in monospot test.
E)
Administration of Ampicillin may cause coetaneous reaction in this patient.
F)
Because of the possibility of fetal allergic reactions non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs cannot be used to reduce fever and pain.
