Question Is Craniopharyngioma originated from pituitary or hypothalamus?

I thought craniopharyngioma is developed from Rathke's pouch which is destined to become future pituitary. However some sources say craniopharyngioma develops in hypothalamus. I am confused. Where exactly does craniopharyngioma come from? Hypothalamus or pituitary. Can anyone please help ?

1]craniopharyngioma is a tumor of the reminants of the rathkes pouch derivative --craniopharyngeal duct... which is also in the supra sellar region but not the pituitary itself

2] it encroaches upon the pituitary stalk or optic chiasm....hence it is not exactly a tumor of the pituitary but a tumor that grows around it and compresses it

4] it is a beningn tumor

5] the relation to the hypothalamus is also only external ... and symptoms maybe due to compression of the pituitary stalk

pls check this sit if u want the details
