Default Is vasculitis a feature of diabetes?

On page 391, Pathology, 1990, a study guide by Damjanow and Rubin, it states that vasculitis is not a feature of diabetes. However, I always thought vasculitis is a feature of diabetes. Can anyone clarify this?

Diabetes is associated with microangiopathy, which is not a form of inflammation, which a vasculitis implies. One of the classic features of microangiopathy of diabetes is capillary basement membrane thickening and endothelial hyperplasia.

Capillary basement membrane thickening and later increased permeability of this is key. It causes decreased oxygen reaching the retina, and later hyper-proliferation of vessels -> diabetic retinopathy. The leaky capillaries may be associated with increased risk of macular edema.
