Default asymptomatic proteinuria and haematuria

A 29-year-old patient with mild hypertension undergoes routine urinalysis and was found to have asymptomatic proteinuria and hematuria. A nephrologist recommended measurements of serum C3 and a renal biopsy. Shown here is the light microscopy image of the patientís glomeruli after silver staining. An assay for serum C3 reveals abnormally low levels. What diagnosis is most likely in this patient?
  • A. Alport syndrome
  • B. Amyloidosis
  • C. Goodpasture syndrome
  • D. Membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis
  • E. IgA nephropathy
