Question does step 1 month/location matter?

Does it matter what month you take the step 1(ex: may, june, july, dec) aka the busy months? I have heard people say that supposedly your score might come out to be lower than expected(due to top us medstudents taking the exam and more medstudents taking the exam overall), even though I don't understand this how other peoples grades affect yours...

Also I have heard that the location where you take your exam makes a diff, for example up north you'll be competing with students from harvard and a lot of ivy league schools? Also that if there are a lot of students taking the step 1 in the testing center, chances are that the usmle topics won't be focused much on path, phys pharm, but will be spread out more(ex like the low yield subjects)

any advice would be appreciated
