Default Step1 pattern change on 11may 2015

They're changing the regular 46 questions per block to 44 questions per block. Don't know how it will affect the difficulty level. Any input from you people? Since this has happened in the past with step2 ck exam aswell.
What changes should be expected other than the number of questions?
How will it affect the 3 digit score now that the total number of questions is 308.

I took my step 2 CK a feww months back and I think it's just becuase in some blocks some questions are longer (usually those are the biostat questions) so you'll find 42 questions instead of 44.
You can also find 45 or 46 in shorter stem questions.
It all fits will with the timing, If it's 46 you'll make it on time and if it's 42 you'll also make it on time. (that's if you practiced your timing well)

So content is the same? Level of difficulty is the same, just longer question stems?

If that is the case then it would be more people would score higher right ? But my opinion is that they will probably cut down the easy questions not the hard ones.

I only took CK once so can't tell about the difficulty!

But, one thing i'm sure of, is that they put the 3 digit score to tell whose better than who. So, there's no need to make it difficult. For example the average increased for step 2CK from 230 to 240 which means people are studying more and working harder.

I think their way of thinking is to have you medically up to date and competent, so new questions will be up but they will be according to new published studies NOT just to make the exam harder.

What they just did is to make time precise in the exam, not an extra minute and not less by a minute also
