Default got my score, 214/90

yea i know its not anything exciting but im def happy! it was a horrible and long road to take this test and i got my score yest. so im just happy its over!

It took me a lil over a yr to finish studying for this test and there was a lot of time i wasted. For the first 4 months i didnt know how to start and i went back and forth between kaplan and pass. I was also hanging out with friends and stuff like that so i guess it wasnt hardcore studying. But jan-sept it was. I took a 2 month break in between cuz i just couldnt read for the life of me. Then i finally found some motivation and took my test.

I took every nbme and basically got between 192-204
Uworld: I did back in march, i think i got around 55%

Kaplan Qbank: I did for the last 2 months. Overall i got 65%

Free150: 76% dont use medfriends with this its not accurate at all with the 2011 edition. but still recommended it because u can go through the tutorial and see some of the easier ?s. I personally think above an 80% give u 220+ (just my guess from other posts i saw)

Study materials:
I did everything but best is Kaplan notes w/ video, FA, and last month for DIT.
U can however skip micro in kaplan because it is wayyy too detailed.

It isnt the best score but i learned so much about how to study and im def going to put that to use for step 2!

Any questions let me know

its a great score!.. i have a friend who made it into a great program with that score.

My question: i know u said kaplan was the best, but what do u think of First Aid after kaplan, and can you tell us, how DIT helped you.

Thank you for ur kind words! I guess i should clarify. If ur starting off and u took a nbme and failed... then yes kaplan is the best to start off with. after that u should def start doing FA and dont stop till ur done w/ the test. Some people read kaplan w/ FA, i personally found it hard to read FA when i began studying.

I like DIT because it forces u to go through FA and it highlights the most important things that we need to know. It is only great if u already have a pretty good background so thats y i think its best to do it a month before the test.

Thumbs Up

Well well, congratulations on your score and your win.

You remind me of myself with the so much time spent on just trying to figure out how to tackle this. But it's like I read elsewhere, preparation is half of the battle.

You are totally right about learning how to study. Studying for step 1 has shown me a number of ways a person can study, and it's like you said, it will be totally useful not only for ck, but also for residency's toughest moments.

Thanks for posting....and best of luck on the next, the next, the next....
