Default Prep problem

I have two questions. If anyone who have taken step 1, kindly help me. Big need of help.

1. I have done the kaplans with videos, twice. I still dont feel confident in recalling anything. I still feel i am at the same level as I started. I do questions and I cant recall basic information. I want to know what wrong am I doing. My studies goes on and off is that the problem or is it something else.

2. I want to make a schedule for 4 months study time. in which i want to do uworld for 2 months atleast. Can anyone help me make a schedule or post a link from I can work out this issue. 2 months times for revising kaplans, goljan, fa seems very short and extremely tough...

Start dedicated study 8-10hours a day. be consistent study every day otherwise you'll keep on forgetting if you take breaks. and dont worry about memorising kaplans.just take concepts from kaplans. use mnemonics or Anki cards. At every weekend revise what you've studied through the week. you should memorize FA.

I kind of had the same problem while doing my step 2 CK prep. I had read kaplan twice but i still couldn't retain much. I was sooo upset and didn't want to start Uworld until I have mastered what's in Kaplan.
That's when my friend told me to stop wasting time and start on Uworld.

The thing is that Uworld is for study purposes NOT for evaluating yourself! You do the questions NOT just to learn new things. It's totally used for retaining information that you've already read.

Doing Kaplan a third time sounds like a waste of time for me. As at the end of your 3rd time you will have the same results you had when you finished the 2nd time!

Memorizing is a multi-step process. First you hear it, then you read it, then you definitely got to implement it (that's doing MCQs) to consolidate it.

Goljan is pretty bulky. I had a plan to finish it twice in a month (thinking that I can retain most of it) and guess what I was barley able to finish it once in 3-4 weeks! In the end I had annotated all the blue high yield prints into my FA. It's pretty good BUT toooo long with lots of step 2CK information. So that might put you in the same spot you're in after finishing kaplan.

My advice:
Pathoma in 2-3 weeks
FA revision in a week
Uworld in 6 weeks (1 block/day)
Kaplan Qbank or Rex in 2-3 weeks
Uworld mistake or again until your exam
Ofcourse, FA revision is a MUST while doing your Qbanks.

One last note. Studying on and off is a big set back for anyone preparing for USMLE exams. Study 6 days and take 1 day off each week. find a study partner but NEVER cut off from studying.

Best of luck
