Default Old IMG needing suggestions

Hi everybody

I am an old IMG with a graduation year of 2003, anes residency training from 2005-2009. Took CS in Jan 2010. Did an observer post in June 2013. Have 1 attempt at step 1 in 2010. Starting preparations again for step 1. Any suggestions on the best material to prepare for step 1? is there anybody out there who has successfully cleared all the steps after a gap in clinical practice. Any kind of personal experience would be helpful. I am thinking of kaplan videos and notes, FA and uworld. If any IMGs in similar situations, we can work together.

Thanks

First, what score are you looking for? 240sh? less? more?
How long do you want your prep to be?
How many hours can you study/day? will there be interruptions?

You need to answer those before to tailor a plan that best fits you.

I can put in 8-10 hrs every day. About scores, 240s will be great!! Is it realistically possible with a 6yr break is what is bothering me. And since I am 6 yrs late, I want to be done with the steps as soon as possible. That's where I need help. To aim for a good score in I and Ck, how much time should I allot for the preparation? From what I have read, it seems like old IMGs put in more mths than the fresh ones, around 6-7 mths seems to be the avg. Is 3-4mths with 8-10hrs everyday good for step 1? Of course, the start might be slow but I am hoping to reach 10 hr mark asap.

6 years is not too long as you thought,

If i were you, I would start with Pathoma 1st time ( 2-3 weeks)
-Then do a thoroughly review of Kaplan course for step 1 ( for 2-3 months).
-Subscribe USMLERX question banks (they are giving discount now) , do all the questions + take note in FA 2015 ( 2months max)
-Pay $50 to do NMBE and evaluate where are you standing.
-Subscribes usmleworld banks and go through them all, make sure you understand concept of each question- even wrong answer choices can help us.
-Take another NBME 1 month prior to exam.
ACE THE EXAM.
BEST,

ps: We have NBME offline ( almost 1200 questions), i think it is somewhere on forum. Please try it during you preparation.

3-4 months wouldnot be enough, give it at least 6-8 months.
