Hypokalemia= increased efflux of intracellular potassium ions leading to hyper polarization of membrane and decreased excitability which ultimately leads to decreased impulse conduction

Sepsis= recruitment of inflammatory cells in the gut wall and release of cytokines il1 and il6 plus NO synthesis which leads to increased guanylyl cyclase causing increased cGMP and muscle relaxation

Opioids= mu receptor activation in gut leads to ileus.
