Calendar Preparing for Step 1 in 45 days!

Hi guys.
I'm an international graduate of 2010 and haven't had time for the past year (long story). Anyways, my exam is in exactly 45 days. I'm starting from scratch. What should be my study plan? Thanks to all in advance who'd help.

Default what i think

i have not written my exams yet so i have no tested and tried advice however people swear by Uworld and FA. also it is advisable to take the most recent nbmes.
As an img i am finding the step 1 subjects challenging since i finished that part of my training years ago, kaplan notes are helpful, but time is the factor here for me. they are alot to cover.
i dont know if i have helped , all the best

I havent taken the exam either but am about to in less than a week. I've found FA and UW to be the most helpful. Definitely do at least 2-3 NBME's.

take an NBME as you are starting off to see your weak areas and then work on those by picking ONE resource per topic. FA+UW is essentially all you need to get an average score. IF you want a high score, you'll have to branch out to more resources but not many. Depends what your starting foundation is.

good luck!

I FOUND THIS EXPERIENCE ON ANOTHER FORUM HOPE IT HELPS.....THIS GUY DID IT IN 52 DAYS....

228/98 July 2011 (IMG graduating in 2007! Preclin rusty at best!)
Did this in 2mths exactly,
Kaplan Q-Bank once -- used the page references for FA as I went along and made notes for points not in the text.
Did 60% of UW -- time ran out!
Read 200 pages of weaker topics in FA cases.
Read over notes made from both Q-Banks.
Read 1st 500 pages of Step 1 Secrets and didn't even finish the FA, only got through 400 pages by the week of the exam.
UW SA1 (6wks b4) -- 214
UW SA2 (2wks b4) -- 224
I think once both Q-Banks are done with incorrects done over and FA is read -- you should be set to get >235 -240 -- anything extra, Goljan etc. >250!

Of note, this is a decent score I'm told by many of my colleagues who average 6-8/12 of study for this exam, considering I did it in 8/52. A big tool for learning was using the page refs in Kaplan and reading/annotating the FA along with it. By the time that bank is done, you'd have read the majority of high yield stuff from the FA without even realizing it.

Good luck to future test takers!

I would definetly stick to FA+UW. These 2 resources have the best "time-knowledge-ration". If u discover weak areas (probably in Basic sciences, since u graduated) it might be helpful to read a more comprehensive text than FA. But only for the weak areas. Having graduated might even be helpful for parts of the exam! Dont worry, stay motivated and good luck!
