Default NBME a day before Step1

Guys is it a good idea to do an NBME a day before step1? I did all the online NBMEs out there except the last one NBME17. My exam is on Thursday (after 3 days from now)

ADVANTAGES:

-Gain more confidence especially if I go up from last NBME done.
-It's the newest NBME (added March 2015), so i would assume it's the best predictor/correlator.

DISADVANTAGES:

-Getting tired the day before the exam, instead of relaxing my self and taking the whole day off.

If i choose to do it then it has to be on Wednesday (the day before the exam) because i wanna make sure that if i do it i would go up from the last nbme which i did before yesterday.

Any help/advice would be appreciated!

NBME11: 232 March 19th
12: 228 April 1st
13:226 April 9th
15:237 April 16th
16:239 May 1st
17: 230 May 6th

Exam: May 7th

I wanna do 17 because i feel like i can get above 240 on it, and going into the exam knowing ur lat nbme was above 240 is better than going into it knowing that ur last one was 230s, but at the same time i dont wanna get tired and have a headache the whole day after am done it, cuz that's what happened to me the last nbme.

I think you should relax the day before rather than get drained by an NBME. The Majority of students complete the last NBMEs on the weekend before their test date (usually around a week before). Even if you take it, you won't be able to make major changes to do well the next day (as in if you don't do well in one area, there won't be much time to go over that topic), and this can result in more stress and panic (something you want to avoid). So I suggest to do something that relaxes you like watching a movie, or meeting friends, etc. Get at least 7 hours of sleep and rock the exam next. Again, this is just my opinion. All the best and do post your post exam experience.

Do it tomorrow, Monday and relax the day before. Good scores on the other ones.

What have you used for your final review?
Thank you

I used:

-Pathoma vids (watched all of them just once)

-FA (once)

-Kaplan vids only for biostats/respi physio/genetics (cuz those 3 were my weaknesess).

- I did 5000 practice questions in total (EXcluding the NBMEs)

-Question sources: Uworld, Rx, KaplanQbank, FA Q/A book, Robbins path, Rubin path, lippincott anatomy Question book

I didn't finish one whole question bank; I did around 1800 Qs from Uworld, and some questions from each of the question sources mentioned above.

- I didn't do a question bank more than once

- I started studyin in January, so had like 4 months

when you are asking "final review" if you mean the last couple of weeks of studying: continued to do questions, mainly from robbins path/rubin path/lippin anatomy and FA Q/A book.

Good. Now take the rest of the day off and do your best to sleep (ha!). Your 230 is right in line with your other NBMEs - remember that the 3-digit score has a pretty wide standard error and that 2 scores must differ by at least 16 points to be significantly different. So you are consistently scoring in the 230s and can rest assured you will do about the same tomorrow.

Now try and rest and do NOT under any circumstances study tonight. Just don't. Things to do today:

1) make sure you have your paperwork
2) make sure you have transportation for tomorrow
3) get food/drinks together for tomorrow
4) Put 3-4 Tylenol in your pocket. You will get a headache from staring at the screen. I took 500mg before walking in and 1000mg at the halfway point.

Good luck!

ended up with a 228, If I would do it again, I would do way less practice questions, and way more repeats of FA

I don't suggest doing an nbme the day before. You don't wanna be stressed if you bad and also don't want to be tired. Do it like 3 days before.
