Unhappy Very slow progess in USMLE World

I don't know how most of the people in this forum do it....
1 block of uw takes me sooooo long to do that i don't have enough time to do theory in FA....I'm doing cardio uw questions first time and since im doing only FA I'm not scoring very high...some people say if i stick to fa and uw i would be ok....but my scores in uw are HORRIBLE.

I am having super i just spoke to a "Friend" who said that at this rate i wont be prepared to apply for the 2013 match since i wanna write step 1 in Feb and the rest after that....if there is anyone out there who can give me a realistic picture i would appreciate it.
(my "friend" finished everything on time and is an opthalmologist and makes a ton of money.....i on the other hand decided to have a family and have children...everytime i talk to her i feel pretty low).

My question is i still have 1400 questions of uw to do plus half of FA...not done NBME's yet at this rate would i be ready for FEB? i am a slow reader and half of uw takes me close to 6hrs.

It depends on your prior background knowledge.

Students and fresh graduates usually go way faster than old graduates who have a number of years since they've done their basic sciences courses.

Also, we are different from each other. Some of us are fast and some of us are slow. The rate of reading does not correlate with success and performance.

You have to tailor your plan according to your needs, time available, target score, ...etc

I'd say if you see that you are doing really bad in UW, then perhaps you need to freshen up on your basic knowledge concepts. With FA alone, it might be difficult to get those concepts. FA is only outlines and serve like a checklist reminder.

If you feel that you knowledge is broken and you are missing many concepts then you might be better off reading a more comprehensive resources such as Kaplan Lecture Notes.

I'd say getting higher score is a priority, even if that means delaying your application another year.
