Default Any benefit of doing MTB(CK) in step1

I was wondering if there's any benefit of going through MTB medicine part for STEP1? Can you score higher? Anyone tried?

Well i've heard that more CK-like scenarios are to be added in the pool and dont you think your diagnosis skill would improve leading to higher chance of getting the question right? Some people, when they're doing CK after taking STEP1 are of the opinion that if they had done MTB medicine part, they wouldve easily scored higher. Any suggestions?

Without any doubt in my mind, doing CK questions is a waste of your time for Step 1. Period. People who think otherwise are failing to understand the subtle differences in these two exams.

Step 1 is always going to be asking about the basic science underlying disease. Any questions that appear to be like CK questions are ones you should be able to answer with your basic science knowledge. The small handful of questions you would pick up would be vastly overshadowed by what you would lose/forget by not studying step 1 material during that time.

The only situation where I think it might be worth doing, and even then not really: if you have 2 weeks left to your exam date and your NBME forms are predicting a 270+ score, then you probably have nothing to lose and maybe you'll pick up a point or two that could get you closer to 280. Anything less than that and you are probably best advised to focus on Step 1 material.
