Drug Doubt : Aspirin Side-effects and Drug Interaction

Its given in the Kaplan Pharmacology book that,

In high therapeutic doses aspirin causes respiratory alkalosis and in toxic doses it causes respiratory acidosis(inhibition of the respiratory center) and then metabolic acidosis.

Can anyone explain both side-effects of resp alkalosis in therapeutic dose and both resp and metabolic acidosis in toxic dose!

Coming to drug interactions:

Its given in Kaplan Pharma book, aspirin with ethanol causes increased GI bleeding can anyone explain this?

I searched Lippincotts pharmacology, its given there that aspirin along with ketorolac causes increased GI bleed but thats understandable since both causes ulcers by inhibition of PGE in the stomach, what is the case of ethanol with aspirin?

Default Bumping!!!

Ok if no one is gonna respond I am writing down my own hypothesis someone confirm

1. Resp alkalosis in therapeutic dose:

My thought: acts a mild uncoupler in therapeutic doses so less energy production(ATP)--->transient acidosis in cells / being uncoupler directly stimulates resp center--->leads to stimulation of resp center and flushing out of CO2(huge amounts)--->resp alkalosis

2. Both resp and metabolic acidosis in toxic doses:

At high doses instead of stimulating resp center blocks it and results into respiratory acidosis with high CO2 levels, being an acid(acetyl salicylic acid) causes metabolic acidosis also being uncoupler causes lactic acidosis...

3. Aspirin with ethanol causes increased GI bleeding

Ethanol causes more acid secretion?!!!! and thus aspirin is unionized gets more absorbed and causes acute effects like gi bleed and ulcers

If possible someone please shed some light please!
