Question Viral illness, hepatomegaly and organelle?

3 days after a viral illness, a child develops severe vomiting and irritability followed by lethargy. The concerned parents take the child to the ER. PE is remarkable for hepatomegaly. The child is admitted to the hospital but over the next 24 hours, coma develops and there is a marked elevation in serum ammonia levels. Electron microscopy of the brain or liver would reveal profound alteration in which of the following cellular organelles?

A. Centromeres
B. Cilia
C. Mitochondria
D. Peroxisomes
E. Ribosomes
