Default Q. supplemental O2 causing retinopathy?

Can anybody pls explain,

How supplemental oxygen can result in retinopathy of prematurity and bronchopulmonary dysplasia? (From Resp. patho,first aid,2014.P.606).

Thanks Birendra. Just wanted to confirm- whether free radical damage only results in retinopathy OR it is also responsible for bronchopulmonary dysplasia?

Both. If premature baby with resp. Distress treated with greater than 50 percent o2 concentration most likely to devlop both.
