Default Failed Step 1. Need advice on weak areas.

Hi everybody:

I just got my results on step 1. I failed with 185.

I read the KLN and did some videos not all of them.
I read FA 2 times and did it 1 with DIT.
I did pathoma videos and book once.
My final UW percentage was 60%

Based on my report my low areas are:

Behavioral/Statistics
Biochemistry
Genetics
General Principal of functional science

I am feeling down, but I know I need to focus on doing better the second time. I need advice on the areas above, what's the best book source? What should I do? I need a plan? I want to have hope.

Thank you

Look I didn't give the exam as of yet...but I think instead of being down....you might have a second chance to stand up since you failed...people who pass getting 192 are the ones who are given almost a death sentence....

Coming to your weak spots...do kaplan tapes once more and the lecture notes...this time full...do uworld along with it...2/3 blocks per day....take nbmes regularly(u didnt take nbme previously that was a mistake)....U will pass next time worry....and will pass getting your dream score.

Best of luck!

You had an average 60% in uworld and yet you dint clear? How can that happen. This translates to a good score? Can you tell what wrong in your preparation or did you screw up in exam?

Repetition is the key. You need to go back to all your sources and spend more time on them.
1. Pathoma for at least 3-4 times
2. USMLE Simple for 2-3 times
3. Uworld for 2-3 times
4. FA read cover to cover 4-5 times

Your score will improve and will pass with the above schedule. And DIT sucks, don't spend too much time on it, rather read FA more times!

DIT sucks, don't waste your time
Stick with Pathoma for pathology content and usmle simple for microbiology

Correct Answer Thank you

Thanks everyone for the advice. I will focus on pathoma, FA, and UW and will do NBME to assess my progress until I passing with good score.

Since I work weekends, I plan to study and do questions 8-9 hours for 3-4 months and take it again. Is that good time to improve my score to pass?

@Rabyyan I got 60% after first pass of UW . I didn't have enough time to repeat it. (My weak areas were the samem plus the 3 P's). On the exam I did well on the 3 P's but in the others no. That's why I am asking what else to do for Biochem, genetics and behavioral because I thought everything there is.

Any suggestions for those subjects?

Getting in the mid to low 250s. I took 4 of them; all during the last week before the exam.

you already got lots of suggestions and ideas about how to do it better next time. but just to add to it , i would say try to revise uworld. even if you have to do it like 3 times. maybe do it just in your weak areas till you start getting almost 90-95% in those questions , 100% is even better. a lot of genetics and most of the biochem and BS is in it.it will give u idea how to answer all these questions . and DO read all the explanations and take notes and read it again from FA it will help to hammer it down in your brain

Good luck for future. i m sure you'll do great this time
