Probability Calculation; Mutual Exclusive and stuff

I cant understand the key probabilities based question, find them very confusing I mean I cant differentiate whether the data in the questions are based on mutually exclusive principle or independent can anyone advice me something

I was in the same place you where, i think the way they explain it on the Kaplan lectures with those titles just makes it worst.

Just learn the Rules, and memorize this 2 examples, stop trying to understand those confusing titles.

So, if you are at a poker game, what are the probabilities to have Hearts OR Diamonds in a hand? They will probably give you the probabilities in the vignett. Probs of getting Hearts 0.25, or Diamonds 0.25 just add them=.50 chances of getting hearts or diamonds. The clasic example is tales or heads which is 0.5+0.5= 1=100%

The other example is what are the chances of getting a patient with Cancer (0.2) AND squizophrenia(0.25) , just multiply them. The chances of having a patient with both Squizo and Cancer is 0.0025

Those two rules, are the big picture, at least it worked for me
