Question How does CNIX nerve palsy cause syncope?

Stupid question here but how does a lesion of CN IX cause Syncope? If I lesion it that means the solitary nucleus is getting 0 firing from barorecptors (as if person has HTON), so wouldn't the body cause HTN as a compensatory mechanism? It is confusing for me because the HY neuro book says that you get hypersensitive of carotid sinus reflex (but how is that possible if the nerve carrying info to medulla, i.e CN 9, has a lesion)?

Even I thought it should lead to hypertension but if it has to sensitize then probably it will end up in hypotension.
