Listening Starting my Prep! Take Falcon Review now? Or in 4-5 months?

SUMMARY:
- I have a weak foundation and finished basic sciences 1 year ago
- I have a tough time studying, used to cramming last minute
- Falcon is either Jan-Feb or May-June - a big gap in between which sucks

OPTION 1:
Should I take Falcon in one month to build a foundation and give me some guidance for my prep (will do kaplan physio and Goljan Audio till then) after my Falcon course I can review the Falcon books over

OPTION 2:
- Should I study on my own for 5 months and then take the next Falcon course for May-June (this would delay my exam, but allow a basic foundation before using Falcon to give myself a better understanding)

Option 1 gives me very little time to be ready for Falcon and I may be a bit lost there, but it also gives me structure and soem direction would could prove to be helpful.

Option 2 gives me a lot of time to build my foundation, but also a lot of time to laoft and not study productively.

I've been trying to start my prep for a while now for the exam, but just having a hard time beginnig since it seems pretty overwhelming at first. I graduated basic sciences a year ago and don't remember much at all. I've read hundreds of threads for advice so now it's time to get going.

I'm having a real hard time starting and focusing so would you recommend taking Falcon Review Jan 9th classes and using that to help build a foundation and basic understand and also get me into the zone.

The only problem is that the next Falcon course is April 30th Which is 5 months away and that seems a bit tooo far away and it would delay my exam by a lot. It would run until the end of june then I would need a couple months to review the Falcon notes and go over FA+UW etc...

Oh also guys, I'm not too concerned with getting a 99 like everyone else.
I'm going for a Family Med position, so a 99 isn't necessary, but obvisouly I would still like to do well because a good score never hurt anybody

I would suggest with option 2.

First build a foundation so that you can make the most of the Falcon course.

Commercial courses are great in injecting super high yield info in a short amount of time and they'll shape you up for the exam but they don't help you much building a foundation (that's your job).

Another factor to take in consideration, is the calendar. Take in consideration sept. 1 for the match application.

Hey, thanks for the replies guys.

Steptaker: Do you feel that after studying 5 months at home, then 2 months at falcon, then another month or review to review falcon concepts I will start to get burnt out? I mean thats about 9 months before even doing strictly first aid, I have a feeling I might NEED the 9 months, but I also have a feeling studying for 9 months might be pushing it.
But on the other hand what you are saying is correct, without my foundation I'm not sure how much I can take away from the course.

I emailed Falcon and they suggested going over my physio once and then nipping through first aid to get an overview of topics that should be covered and they said that should be fine to get me ready for the course. However it's hard to trust advice from someone trying to "sell" something.

LatinGeorge - Taking into consideration some time for breaks in between rotations and some time to take step 2 and possibly Canadian board exams, what would be the best time for me to write the exam by to avoid missing a match? I am assuming Late August early september?
