you have to call them and tell inform them that you will not be writing your exams....you will loose the money....you will have to pay the whole fees all over again....that is what i have heard. please verify.

You don't even have to call anybody, just don't show up and that's it, but it's better if you call (for ethical purposes only)

Call Prometric and ECFMG, both of them.

You'll lose the money. That's the only side effect, it wouldn't be considered a failed attempt.

no u can't because as u sign in at the counter then u considered that u took the exam , u can leave the test in the middle of the exam but it will be mentioned in ur record & one day when u gonna have interview they will ask u what happened back then ...

If you don't go for the test on your scheduled date, then it automatically means that you didn't take the test or you missed your appointment. It will NOT be counted towards a failed attempt! You didn't attempt it.
You will lose all the money. You can't have it transferred to your next application. You will have to pay all of it again.

If you do attempt it and decide to leave the test after 5 or 6 blocks you will most likely get a FAIL in the test. It will be counted as an attempt.
Some people do this when they know that their test is going really bad and they will be getting a score around 75-76 which is not gonna help in their residency prospects. So they leave the test and then reapply again with a better prep. But it will still be counted as an attempt, which also counts in the residency process.
So leaving the test half way is not good in the long run. Either attempt it full or just don't go for the test.
