Show Teeth I am enjoying USMLE Reading!

I don't know why but it's happening to me , ,when i was in my high school i was dumbest student when it comes to biology,,in my college (which was the best college in Pakistan) i was the dumbest student in biology, in fact my biology teacher thought i am mentally retarded . .i used to take aspirin after every biology class . .during my MBBS, i m the lowest category student, (my university is the best medical university in Pakistan) . .i have never ever enjoyed biology, or it's related fields not for a single day , ,
but somehow, i m enjoying my step preparation, in fact i don't want to leave it, i told my friend, either i forgot how to enjoy or whatever i m doing is my enjoyment and i don't know what will i do when it comes to an end , ,
has it happened to any one that you enjoyed your journey for step1 so much that you don't want to end it,
you don't want to take the exam , , ,

I actually do not have the same feeling as you but have another problem. As i am solving a Q i generally narrow it down to last two options and then due to some goddamn bad luck or whatever choose the wrong answer. Most of the time the other answer that i ruled out turns out to be the correct answer. I dont know what to do about this. Anyone else faced this ???

JOIN THE CLUB!!! no matter how many questions i practice.. i m stuck with this problem..n its only NOW i realised why.. LACK OF CONFIDENCE!! cuz 1 out of 10 qz which im confused abt , or i think im being tricked, changing the asnwer WORKS! but 4 out of 10 times, where im trying to be oversmart, pretending i kno these fools more than they think, changing the answer DOESNT WORK.. so basically be confidentt!!! they try to trick u all the time. ESPECIALLY WEN THEY ASK U THE SIMPLEST OF QUESTIONS!! dont fall for them. confidence is the keyyy

Default Absolutely right

Oh dear ,, you can never imagine how much I loved my step 2 preparation ,, I feel like I've never gone to a school of medicine before owing to the difference in quality of the scientific material and technique of education ,, and I really feel upset every time I think that I'm going to do my exam next Feb and that I'll miss the fun I had before ,,, you are totally right to have such a feeling ,, every day I thank God because he guided me to the right path I'm in right now ,, Good luck for all of you

Default Yes, it happens to me too!

I'm enjoying my step 1 reading too! And I can totally relate to you. I just don't think it's a defense mechanism or anything similar because my date is set for July, Insha'Allah and I have to give it then.

The reason I'm enjoying my prep is pretty much like what you describe too... the way you approach the step 1 exam, the questions, the content, etc. is all so refreshing. My medical college (arguably one of the best in Pakistan) experience was like yours too... especially towards the final year when I slacked off... just didn't feel like making the effort anymore because the exam system was just too twisted. But now... now it's fun!!

You are right, most of the times if you stick with your first choice it turns out to be right, but there are also times rarely albeit, that you think oh... oh...but this answer could also be right and it turns out to be right. So the only way out is to i guess read more n be confident as you said

Wink Just curious

Just out of curiosity , how did you manage to achieve everything best when you was the worst at it?

Practicing questions work the best for me. I hate reading KAPLAN series and I think that i am wasting my time on reading these books. Uworld ,on the other hand, keeps me glad!

Help fun frustration

what I dont understand sometimes is that people say. I did this 4 times. I read goljan 3 times.... blah blah
But what I dont understand is why?? why read soo many times rather you should go over First Aid twice or Uworld if anything. I dont know if its just me. But what I tend to do is read understand memorize the chapter before moving on to the next and at the end annotate it in first aid. Yes, it does go slow and this fun process does come with a quite some frustration.
But I still have to get to that point where I cant fall asleep cos its soo fascinating to study and just cant wait to jump out of my bed so that I can hit the books again. That crazy euphoric feeling of pleasure from studying step 1 lol.
What do you guys do to get that
