Hey basketball1, scoring low in the first round is normal. Use Uworld as a study tool and learning material. Did u read any other resources? Did u start to put notes in your FA? Clear the concepts you have problem with and try to add alll the uworld knowledge to your FA. Best of luck!

Consider doing Goljan audio, it'll help you reinforce high yield topics in pathology and pathophysiology. Or if you want a more comprehensive review of the entire First Aid then do DIT. DIT and Goljan audio have helped me quite a bit.

Correct Answer Re-read FA...

I think that reading FA just one time is not enough, at least 3 times (That is what everybody is saying). Since you have already started with UW, review your score and pay attention on the topics that are giving you more trouble, then, grave your FA work on them with a little more "detail". In UW, read the explanations.. really slow, with a cup of coffee next to you (Don't rush, remember, the time that you'll expend here is the time that you'll not have to expend in re-reading over and over). I have FA Q&A if you feel like trying it. How much time do you have? When are you going to do the exam?

Peace....

"May the force be with you..."

P.S. And yes... read everything againg, good and bad... all.

I also wonder what is DIT? I never heard about it.
And what's the FA Q&A?where I can get it?

Default problem in anatomy

Hi,
I am having difficulties in anatomy as I didn't read Kaplan anatomy because I really didn't like the book. I know that anatomy has straight forward questions and I really don't want to miss those. Can anyone suggest me what will be a good source of reviewing anatomy in a short and easy way?
It will be really he'll for me .

DIT is Doctor In Training, a 15 day online course that basically reads FA over again, plus adding some important highlights FA doesn't include. The handout provides a lot of important information too. It is good for those who doze off easily when reading long texts, or saw the thick FA and panic haha.
I started listening to DIT last December, took me a month to put down all the notes, marked the high yield topics mentioned in the video, and go through everything word by word in FA. After that I start going through UW and seriously memorizing every single word in FA. Took me the whole January, and now I am almost done with FA and 25% left in UW. DIT speeds up the studying process, since you've already gone through everything once.
Of course DIT is not absolute mandatory, since everyone has different study habit. But if restarting my study schedule, I will still use DIT to go through every detail again.

Good luck!!

You can probably find the videos out there if you just search a bit. I've heard of people downloading them.

IMG from where? I'm an IMG too. The online forums will help a lot in terms of getting an idea on what to use. you will become great friends with usmle Forums and Google. At least i have

My plan is to go through all the study materials which i've chosen to use (and of course use any free question sources after each chapter to make sure i get the main points of each chapter i.e. Taus method). I also go through FA with the books to know what to really emphasise on (I'm about 1/3 of the way through my studying now). Once i've finished that I'll definitely do DIT and then do the Kaplan diagnostic test to assess if i'm happy with where i am to start Qbank.

Haven't set a date yet but i'm thinking i'll take it around end of June or Early July.

Studying in china - one of the worst decisions i've ever made but what's done is done. All i can do now is try to remedy the situation and keep aiming for the moon and beyond :roll eyes:

why do you need until may if you're already doing UW now? You should be ready right after UW and a couple NBMEs...

Ohh its because I just started uworld n I'm in now around 16 blocks n there are 46 blocks, I need sometime at least end of Feb to finish uworld and then I want to review uworld for the second time after checking out n resolve my mistakes by reviewing fa or whatever I need. It will took sometime, I don't wanna hurry.

Info

I know everyone has their own methods of studying.
But in general, FA & UWorld are your passport to step 1 guys! Use Kaplan/Goljan to clear your concepts before that. Use NBME's & UWSA after to determine where you stand in terms of preparation.

Best of luck with your preps. Aim HIGH!

If you are an IMG, you should keep at least 9 months in your prep(though its not impossible to do in less than that).

This thread should help you.
