Unhappy really low NBME, stress, loss of confidence

I've been following the forum and trying to copy the routine of some of the people who have scored 230+.

I just took an NBME and I did really poorly.

I've been stressing alot because of parents comparing me to everybody else we know who have finished their exam in some 2 months and are now in rotations. the stress is really getting to me. i've been getting eyelid twitches and no matter how much I study its like i'm just absent minded and dont recall anything. Its like I just went blank and I couldnt remember some of the most basic concepts.

im really losing confidence. I'm really confused and upset and I just do not know what to do. I have not yet registered for usmle and I need to soon. please help.

thx for ur time

i was in ur same position few months ago, anxiety at that level is bad u wil not be able to get anythin into ur brain, best thing to do is to take a good break take a 2 days off relax 4 get studies 4 those 2 days and then come back...then try to make a schedule a rough calcation based on the number of pages u can complete in a day without too much stress, and try to cover that many pages daily ...also make a plan regardin everythin ,wen to start ur u world ,ur next nbme etc.....but if that aint under too much stress u should try yoga ,relaxin excercises or even see a psychiatrist(as it is written in front of the q book kaplan)...becos its of no use studyin with so much anxiety...and pls dont bother u comparin with smeone else, its irritatin to hear 4 me as well..dont wory take ur time on a n avg it takes around 6 to 8 months for step 1

i dont have health insurance so i cant see a psychiatrist - though i did consider it.

if i manged to see one, i'm not sure how to approach.

i dont like to complain but i dont know the soluion. sorry for seeming negative.

Hi!
We all go through this at one point. I went through the samething.. My parents did the samething to me because some of my cousins and family friends have finished their step and now started clinicals or are now going to do their residency... By parents saying it all the time and comparing it to others they think it will motivate us to study. They don't realize that its only irritating and getting us stressed. Just be frank with them and tell them you are not the same as them. You wont know what you get until u are left alone to do what you wanted to do. If you have gotten this far then u can do it as well. May be you will do better than them.. Who knows... But if you let ur anxiety, stress overtake you.. It will be hard for you to reach that goal. Just tell yourself u can do it and you need to do better than all those ppl and shut everyone up! It will work.
To start off just take a break for a day or two... Do things that you like (go out with friends, movies, etc, etc) and dont think abt the step! And then start studying in the next few days when ur ready. Set a schedule and try to follow it. You can start slow and then go faster as you go. Each day try to do some studyin during the day and then at night do a few questions from Kaplan Q bank or somfn... Kaplan is not easy but it will tell you which areas you need to go back and revise.. U can revise it and see how other students did in that same question (It makes me happy when I get more than the avg) and sometimes I get it wrong and the avg of the other students is low then I tell myself its ok others got it wrong too.. Lol! I try to motivate myself that way.. So try to find things to keep you going.
You worst enemy is negative self esteem. Don't let that beat you! Keep telling yourself you got this far and you can do it. And you are only gonu get above the NBME score you got now ur not going to go down. So keep studyn and u will do great!
Good luck!
